Scripta Manent's present volume brings three articles and two coursebook reviews. In his article "Academic genres in EFL medical educational contexts: the medical case-report", Eugenio Cianflone explores the slightly overlooked genre of the medical case-report. Beside exploring its structure, he also shows the ways in which it can be used in the ESP classroom to raise students' awareness of this professional genre, develop their reading and speaking skills and their vocabulary.

French for specific purposes is the focus of the second paper. In "Apprendre les genres du secteur wallon de l’énergie. Un regard croisé sur les professionnels et le grand public", Mario Marcon uses corpus methods to explore the genres that the energy sector of Wallon uses to communicate with professional and lay communities. He compiled the texts produced by this sector and grouped them in two subcorpora based on the target group they address. The article shows how the findings of lexical and textual analysis of the two subcorpora can inform teaching French for specific purposes.

The last paper shows how postgraduate students of professional communication can benefit from learning to analyse texts and practicing reflective writing. Jonathan Clifton's article "Combining Conversation Analysis and Reflective Practice in the LSP Classroom: Putting Transcripts of Business Simulations under the Microscope" provides insight into the procedures and outcomes of this experiment.

We also have two reviews of coursebooks for Italian for specific purposes. While Nives Lenassi reviews Il vicino diverso. Percorsi di educazione interculturale di lingua italiana by Nives Zudič Antonič and Metka Malčič that aims to develop students' intercultural competence in Italian, Darja Mertelj provides a review of Strokovna terminologija v italijanskem jeziku by Maja Maričić, which targets students trying to learn Italian for tourism purposes on beginner level.
